ICID provides a unique platform for
multi-stakeholder in World Irrigation
Forum (WIF) for sharing and learning
by engaging in issues of interest at
global level.
The World Irrigation Forum stimulates and
promotes multi-disciplinary discussions
towards sustainable solution to water
management in agriculture through:
• Exchange of latest irrigation & drainage
policies, practices, innovations and
technologies;
• Exploring and formulating concrete
inter-disciplinary proposals;
• Development of liaison/ collaboration
among various national / international
institutions / organizations/ private
sector working for irrigated agriculture;
and
• Advocacy for political commitments.
The Second World Irrigation Forum
(WIF2), together with 67th International
Executive Council (IEC) Meeting in
coordination with host Thai National
Committee on Irrigation and Drainage
(THAICID) will be held during 6-12
November 2016 at Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The main theme of the WIF2 is “Water
management in a changing World:
Role of Irrigation in Sustainable Food
Production” with the three sub-themes:
(1) Sub-Theme 1: Key actors in balancing
water, food energy and ecology; (2)
Sub-Theme 2: Management of climatic
extremes with focus on floods and
droughts; and (3) Sub-Theme 3: Key and
smart actions to alleviate hunger and
poverty through irrigation and drainage.
WIF2 is the largest business event
relating to agriculture, water and the
environment. This mega event will
provide a special opportunity for
corporates to show case their products
and services.
Various stakeholders/governments
are invited to organize events, such
as: Technical Session; International
Workshops; Side Events; Roundtable
Discussions; Capacity development
events; Ministerial Meetings; and
Exhibitions.
