The 53rd Board of
Governors meeting (BoG) of World Water Council (WWC) approved the creation of a Task Force to propose the
implementation framework of ICID’s proposal on the World Water System Heritage
(WSH) Program under the chairmanship of the President of ICID, Dr.Saeed Nairizi. At the 54thBoG
held at Gyeongju, Korea on 11 April 2015 the Chair presented the draft report
of the Task Force (TF) through a PowerPoint presentation where the basic
framework was proposed with four important elements: International Committee
(IC), Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), the National Committees (NC) for WSH
and the Centre for WSH (as the Secretariat). A preparatory meeting on WSH was
organized in at ICID Headquarters in New Delhi on 16 March 2016, with potential
members from the
International Committee (IC) and the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to fine
tune the proposal before presenting to the 58thBoard of Governors
(BoG) meeting of WWC at Jodhpur, India on 18-19 March 2016.
The brief outcomes of the meeting,
including the discussions followed at the 58thBoG of WWC in Jodhpur
on 18-19 March 2016, are given in the following paragraphs.
